Services
The Gearing Towards Engineering Foundation focuses on a multi-tier outreach system, facilitating programs and activities for children of all ages. From book readings, career days, STEM events and more, The Foundation is prepared to help your children succeed.
Book Readings
Volunteers read a Foundation sponsored book and follow it up with an activity that pairs with the topic of the book to reinforce the concepts introduced. For example, after a reading of Roxy the Fox and the Tree Truss Bridge, we typically do a truss building activity out of popsicle sticks or straws.
Career Days
An open house type of event where we have several STEM professionals available to talk to about their fields in a casual Q&A. Students have an opportunity to ask questions about several different careers directly from someone who works in a specific industry.
STEM Events
A STEM professional gives an introductory presentation on a specific topic in their field and then the Foundation follows up their presentation with a related activity to highlight some of the core topics of that career. For example, after a presentation from a Water Resources Engineer, we typically do a sand filter build to clean water.
